Welcome to StellaScaleModels.com; the home of fine architectural and model railroad miniatures by James Harr. Jim has been a professional model maker since he graduated from Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NY, in 1986 with a Bachelors degree in Industrial Design. After graduation he moved to San Francisco, where he worked with most of the architectural model making firms in the city. In 1990 he moved back to New Jersey where he became staff model maker for Henry Dreyfuss Associates in New York, building a diverse range of product design models for many clients. Since 1995 Jim has run his own company, Benchmark Productions, continuing to broaden and build his career in both the architectural and product design fields, working with a wide array of clientele. Jim has also built a number of master models for several producers of scale freight car kits. A life-long model railroader, Jim is currently modeling the Lackawanna Railroad’s Bangor & Portland branch in HO scale in his basement. Jim is a member of the Erie Lackawanna Historical Society, and in 2003 he inaugurated, and has edited since its inception, the ELHS modeling newsletter ‘From the Workbench’. Along with his wife Lorine, Jim is a longtime architectural enthusiast, enjoying in particular the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, and they enjoy traveling the US and the rest of the world in search of new structures and places to visit and photograph. The creation of Stella Scale Models is a realization of a decades-long dream to provide a unique line of products and advance the hobby for all to enjoy. We hope you will find something useful and we always like to hear from you with comments or questions.
